Book: ‘Meet Me In The Moon Room’ by Ray Vukcevich

I’m reading this fantastic collection of bizarre and fabulous short stories by Ray Vukcevich. Some of them are flash fiction pieces, and they’re just perfect to dip into to stimulate ideas.
The book is published by Small Beer press and more information is available at this link.

All the way from home

I wonder if it ever crossed Alessio’s mind that a girl (his girl) could hack into his own website. Well.. let’s just say it’s now been done.
How are things in the world of this up and coming author’s “other half”?
Well… other than the constant questions as to the whereabouts of Alessio (and when he’ll […]

The Clock Of The Long Now

In 1996 The Long Now Foundation was created to help expand people’s mindsets from short term thinking to long term planning for the future. One of the organisation’s projects, ‘The Clock of The Long Now’, is a clock based on a 10,000 year cycle! Now that’s planning for the future. The prototype […]

1:30am - a day in the life

You wake up at 6:30am, bleary eyed. It’s hot outside and already your room feels like a sauna. You pull yourself out of bed, have a shower, start to clock over what will happen during the day. Last night you met one of the best (if not the best) science fiction editors […]

If you’re stuck in your writing and looking for a way to come up with new ideas, give this a try.

Quick Update

It’s been an intense couple of days. I have my crit tomorrow on ‘The Unfolding’ (which had the working title ‘The Workers’). Should be interesting. I’ve also developed a draft of a Flash Fiction piece called ‘I-Mother-in-Law’. It’s as the title suggests. And I’ve just started a new story about […]

20,000 words and the day a blur

Busy day today. We finished the crit sessions at 12:30pm. A quick lunch with the gang, then to the library.
Somewhere between then and now I’ve read 20,000 words of stories (4 short stories) and written for about six hours. I was working on my story, ‘The Man Who Laughs’, hoping to […]

1am and other stories

Well, what a day. I woke itching to get out of uni campus. Weekends stuck in a room to work, the same place you sleep, are usually not ideal for me. I’m pleased to say today was a total turn around. We spend so long here each week it can be […]
